Feb 19 | 9 AM - 4:30 PM | NMSU Aggie Experience: During this full day event students can tour campus, meet professors, mentors, and current students, and learn about different majors, among other things. The Aggie Experience tends to fill up, so if a student is interested in attending, they should register ASAP.
Feb 19 | 9 AM - 3 PM | Research @ Tech Day: Research @ Tech Day is for prospective students and parents to visit New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology's campus (NM Tech), hear more about financial aid and scholarships, take a tour of the residence halls, dine in the cafeteria, meet some “Techies”, faculty, and find out more about the unique opportunities for undergraduates at NM Tech.

Jan 30 | 6 PM | Why the Ivy League Isn’t for Your Family: Collegewise is hosting this webinar that will break down the difference between the Ivy League reality versus the illusion of it, highlight factors to consider during the college search process, and how to create a balanced college list.
Feb 5 | 5 PM | College Admissions for Great Kids Without Great GPAs: In this webinar Collegewise founder, Kevin McMullin, will provide tips for how parents can be supportive during the college application process. In addition, he will share an overview of the application process and highlight what students should focus on.
Feb 6 | 6 PM | STARS Virtual Panel: Applying to College as a Transfer Student: Learn more about applying to colleges and universities as a transfer student. Will cover switching colleges, making the transition from a 2-year to 4-year institution, or coming back to college after some time away.
SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID
The Hamilton Award is open until January 31. Hamilton Scholars receive two $500 cash awards in addition to individualized mentoring throughout a student’s time in college. The Hamilton Award is given to 20 students each year.
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes high school students who have undertaken significant efforts to advance racial equity and understanding in their schools or communities. Recipients receive a $1,000 award in addition to participating in a Symposium on Race. The application deadline is January 31.
The Sunflower Initiative is a $10,000 one year scholarship (with the possibility of renewal) for female students interested in studying at a women’s college in the US or Canada. The submission deadline is February 1.
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers nearly 10,000 scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000 based on need. The deadline to apply is February 15.
The Foundation for Rural Service has eight scholarships available. The deadline to apply is February 16.
The Taos Community Foundation has eight scholarships available to students ranging from $400-$60,000. Some of them are for students in Taos, while others are not. The deadline to apply is March 4.
ONLINE RESOURCES
MyIntuition is a tool that more than 70 colleges use to help students and families estimate how much they might pay to attend. It’s similar to using a Net Price Calculator, and only asks six questions to help families find out what need-based financial aid, and merit scholarships, for which a student may be eligible. As students and families complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile, MyIntuition can help them prepare for the financial aid awards they receive.
The Common App Ready Online Toolkit has scaffolded resources to support college access professionals as they work with students on their common applications. You can find additional resources on Common App's YouTube channel and recommender resource Linktree.
